WHAT IS AQUALYX? Aqualyx is an injectable treatment, which targets and melts away stubborn pockets of fat in the body. It’s less invasive than liposuction and doesn’t require any anaesthesia.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Aqualyx is typically used to target fatty deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.
WHICH AREAS CAN IT BE USED ON? * Double Chin * Upper & lower Stomach * Bra Rolls * Inner thighs * Outer thighs * Front of thighs * Back of thighs * Under Buttock Roll * Buttocks * Arms/ Bingo Wings * Hips / Love handles * Knees
The active ingredient induces a process called lipolysis, where the fat cells rupture and die. The Desoxychol-acid breaks down the fat cell wall releasing the fatty acid that is stored within. The bodies lymphatic system removes the fatty liquid through the venous system, where it is then processed in the same way as fatty foods are digested.
WHO IS SUITABLE FOR AQUALYX TREATMENT? The best results can be obtained in patients with an average body weight or slightly overweight with local accumulation of fat. The treatment is not suitable to treat obesity.
What happens during treatment? The treatment takes around 30-45 minutes to administer depending on the area(s) of the body being treated by using thin, flexible cannulas. The procedure is virtually pain free as Aqualyx contains a local anesthetic and as fat tissue is almost free of sensation. How many treatments are required? The number of Aqualyx treatments varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. 1-3 sessions are recommended for small areas, such as the jowls and under the chin, 2-8 sessions for larger areas such as arms or thighs. 3-4 weekly intervals are required for repeat treatments. What to expect after the treatment? Directly after treatment the treated area can be swollen which may last a few days. Mild redness, and sometimes slight bleeding or bruising at the injection site can also occur however these temporary side effects quickly subside. You can take anti-inflammatory medication to relieve any discomfort and swelling (i.e. Paracetamol). Ice cooling will also reduce side effects after the treatment. In rare cases, serious side effects such as difficulty swallowing or nerve damage to the jaw area may occur during the treatment of the double-chin, which may lead to a temporarily uneven smile, loss of sensation or weakness of the facial muscles. These complaints usually do not require special treatment and resolve spontaneously.
